This patent, entitled System and Method for Rapidly Refreshing a Dynamic Message Sign Display Panel, simplifies the complexity of the message display data stream by using a unique Drop-And-Pass scheme. The Drop-And-Pass scheme can be summarized as follows.
SolarTech dynamic message sign display panels consist of (24) interchangeable modules. The controller assigns a hierarchy to the data steam received by each module, starting from the top left of the display panel and working over to the right, and ending at the bottom right. The entire data stream is sent to the first module; the first module takes the information it requires and then passes the rest on to the second module, and so on. When the last module receives its information, it communicates back to the controller to indicate that all the information was received correctly.
With this Drop-And-Pass scheme, exclusive to Solar Technology, Inc., one message page or graphic can be displayed while the data for the next message page or graphic is being sent. This “preloading” of data creates the Rapid Refresh. The result is an efficient, more reliable message display data stream!
