At Solar Tech, we are committed to providing equipment that increases the safety in a workzone, both for the workers and motorists. Our patented Automatic Error Detection and Correction process virtually eliminates the disruptive effect that Electro-magnetic Interference (EMI) can have on dynamic message signs. EMI can cause corruption of data in a digital system by disrupting bit patterns in bytes of data. These corrupted bytes change the value or meaning of the data. If corrupted data bytes are interpreted by a microprocessor as CPU instructions they may cause the instrument to unexpectedly change states or “lock up” by attempting to perform an invalid operation.
Although electronic components may be protected from EMI by shielding, there is no practical way to shield LED display modules. Consequently, SolarTech has designed an alternate way to insure uninterrupted operation. Our patented programming enables the SILENT MESSENGER controller to constantly monitor and control the performance of the LED Display Modules. If a problem is detected through an error detection algorithm, there will be three attempts to correct the situation. First, the unit will reset all of the LED Display Modules. If that does not correct the problem, the entire unit shuts down and restarts itself. If the fault still exists, the unit will try every hour on the hour to restart and fix the fault. Any errors caused by EMI or any other malfunctions, short of physical damage, will be automatically detected and corrected at any hour of the day, unattended.
